
New England Animal Hospital is dedicated to ensuring that your pet gets the protection he or she needs by providing scheduled, regular vaccinations. Below are links to information on the routine care of your pet.

Puppies 16 weeks-1 year can be
microchiped!
Puppies
6-8 Weeks
Puppies should receive:
- A physical exam
- A fecal exam
- Treatment for intestinal parasites
- Vaccination against distemper, parvovirus,
parainfluenza, adenovirus type 2, coronavirus and leptospirosis,
all given by one injection.
9-12 Weeks
Puppies should receive:
- Second physical exam (this is especially
important for males to make sure both of the testes have
dropped).
- Fecal exam
- Second distemper vaccination (same as stated
above) lyme and giardia vaccinations can also be given at
this time
- Heartworm/lyme test (required before giving
a lyme vaccine)
- Lyme and giardia vaccinations are recommended
for high-risk areas.
- Treatment for intestinal parasites.
13-16 Weeks
Puppies should receive:
- Final puppy boosters for distemper and
giardia
- Final puppy treatment for intestinal parasites
- Kennel cough also know as bordetella are
given to puppies with high exposure risk.
- Rabies vaccine
- Lyme Booster
16 Weeks-1 Year
We recommend:
- Spaying or neutering
- ProHeart 6 Blood panel –- a simple
blood test checking your puppies live function enabling
ProHeart 6 to be started.
- Radiographs (x-rays); checking hip
growth and any signs of displasia.
Yearly
We recommend:
- Physical exams
- Dental exams
- Vaccinations updates
- Heartworm/lyme tests
- And other testing recommended by our doctor
to keep your dog as healthy as possible.
Geriatric-8 years and older
We recommend:
- Physical exams
- Dental exams
- Vaccinations updates
- Heartworm/lyme test
- Geriatric blood work to check for thyroid
problems, diabetes, kidney and liver disease.
